The Interactive Retail Installation is a set of three individual stations designed to provide a tactile brand experience for potential customers in a retail environment.
This installation was created for Trekkers Outdoors, a fictional outdoor apparel brand. While the wireframe for each station were pre-existing, they were reskinned and redesigned to align with the Trekkers Outdoors brand and their customer.
Additionally, a series of motion graphics and promotional videos were created to further enhance the overall customer experience.
Before any work began on the interactive station layouts, it was important to establish the Trekkers Outdoors brand and its identity.
By defining the brand’s identity upfront, I created interactive stations that effectively communicated the Trekkers Outdoors brand message and resonated with its target customers. This approach would help to ensure that the interactive installations were not only visually appealing but also aligned with the overall brand strategy, leading to a more effective customer experience.
Working with pre-existing code wireframes for each station presented both opportunities and limitations during the design process. While the wireframes provided a strong foundation for this project, they also imposed constraints on what could and could not be designed and implemented.
Throughout the design process, it was crucial to ensure that the branding, themes and overall experience were consistent across all three stations. This ensured a cohesive and memorable customer journey for Trekkers Outdoors customers.
In an existing brick and mortar retail environment, the three interactive stations would be strategically placed within the store, in a high traffic area, guiding the Trekkers customers through a carefully curated experience.
Each station offers a distinct user experience that showcased the Trekkers brand and its products, with the ultimate goal of encouraging customers to make their purchase through the touchscreen application.
The layout of the installation and the placement of the station are important considerations for creating a seamless and effective customer journey.
By leading customers through the stations in a strategic manner, the installation can effectively communicate the unique value proposition of the Trekkers brand and its products.
The Interactive Catalogue Station is the most immersive and hands-on experience of the entire installation. This station showcases three of the company's products on a small pedestal, which is equipped with light sensors and buttons to enable interactive engagement.
The Rotating Product Station is comprised of a large display monitor and a waist-height pedestal that contains a leap motion controller. This equipment allows users to interact with the station without physically touching anything by using an alternative input device. By using hand gestures and movements, customers can rotate the products on the display monitor, gaining a 360-degree view of each item. This creates a dynamic and engaging experience that helps to showcase the products in a more interactive and memorable way.
At the Touchscreen Ordering Station, customers can create their own custom outfits digitally in real-time. By browsing the brand's clothing collection and using the touchscreen interface, customers can customize their order and print out a receipt to bring to the store's checkout counter.
The motion graphic promos for the Trekkers Outdoors brand are designed to enhance the overall interactive retail experience. These promotional videos showcase the brand’s commitment to quality, durability, and performance as well as its focus on sustainability and outdoor exploration.
The final deliverable for the Trekkers Outdoors retail installation is a fully functional and immersive interactive experience that showcases the brand's products, values, and identity. This installation consists of three interactive stations strategically placed within the retail store, each offering a unique and engaging experience for customers.
